Fragments of life, art, and feeling.

Hi there,

I wanted to share a quick update on what I’ve been creating, thinking about, and diving into lately. As always, thank you for following along and for your support.

🎨 Title: The Space Between Us

This piece came to me almost instantly - one of those rare moments where the idea felt like it was a gift from somewhere else. I kept thinking about the space between two people - not just physical distance, but the emotional space that can exist between them. That vast, unknowable place where connection, silence, tension, or longing can live. I wanted to represent that visually. A galaxy suspended in the in-between.

Admittedly, I’m only about a quarter of the way through this audiobook, Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell, but wow, what a ride so far. I’m a huge fan of claustrophobic horror, when characters are isolated or trapped in one place. Some of the best horror stories, in my opinion, come from that kind of setting. In this case, it’s a cabin in the woods. And let me tell you - the tension is already thick. The atmosphere, the pacing, the slow unraveling of fear... it’s got me on the edge of my seat, so far.

We watched A Complete Unknown last weekend, and it was excellent. I’m a bit biased because I’m a huge fan of folk music. But beyond the music, the storytelling was beautifully done. The movie captures such a pivotal moment in both Bob Dylan’s life and music history with real care and depth. If you’re into music, culture, or just great filmmaking, I definitely recommend checking it out.

For my fellow sci-fi and horror fans: I recently watched Daddy’s Head on Shudder, and it has stuck with me. It’s dark, disturbing, and definitely not something I’d typically watch or recommend, but I’m glad I gave it a chance. The atmosphere is heavy, the story takes its time, but the payoff is worth it. This movie definitely lingers in your mind long after the credits roll.

Staying disciplined with creative work is absolutely essential for me. I try to create something new every day. Having structure helps me stay motivated and avoid burnout or distraction. But recently, I was reminded that sometimes it’s worth slowing down. Taking an extra moment to sit with a piece, tweak a detail, or rethink a creative choice can be the difference between something good and something great. That extra bit of care can turn a solid idea into art that resonates on a deeper level.

There have been a few recent pieces where I paused and asked myself, “Is this really conveying what I want it to?” If the answer was no, I didn’t rush to finish. Instead, I took the time to fix what wasn’t working. When I first started making art professionally, I was so excited to create that I think I often rushed the process. Now, I’m learning to better honor the space it takes to create.

Spring has officially arrived here in Connecticut, and everything is in bloom - including our little farm! We’ve added a new goat to the herd and welcomed a few pigs into the mix, which has made things extra lively.

Our son, Brooks, is already 7 months old (how did that happen?!), and I just want to say thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown during my pregnancy and postpartum journey.

We’ve got a few fun spring projects planned for the property, but for now, we’re soaking up the warmer weather and slower days as a family.

ICYMI - the Kickstarter for my debut novel, One Red Arrow, is officially 100% funded!
I’m so grateful for all of your support - thank you! There are still 4 days left to contribute and reserve your copy of the book.

Now we’re setting our sights on the stretch goal: a professionally produced audiobook version of the novel. Every bit of support helps us get there!
